Elyíbiti

Elyíbiti revisits the history of LGBTQ activism in Puerto Rico through interviews with activists who recount the struggles, organizations, and key events from the 1970s to the mid-1990s. Combining personal testimonies with archival footage, historical documents, and news reports from the period, the film offers a portrait of resistance and community organizing during a time marked by the criminalization of same-sex relationships under Article 103 of the Puerto Rico Penal Code. More than a historical record, the documentary preserves a collective memory essential for understanding LGBTQ+ struggles on the island.
